Location and time independent EEG decoding in acute care settings

When the pathophysiology of a patient with impaired consciousness cannot be diagnosed from imaging or blood findings, EEG is of great significance. In particular, electroencephalography (EEG) is indispensable in distinguishing nonconvulsive status epilepticus with seizures (NCSE). However, reading the measured EEG requires an extremely high level of expertise, and even in Japan, there are only a limited number of physicians who can read the EEG, and in many cases, EEG readers are not available in the acute care setting.
