DeNA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Shingo Okamura, hereinafter "DeNA") and its subsidiary Allm Inc. (Headquarters in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Takaaki Otani, hereinafter "Allm") held a demonstration of the integrated telemedicine support solution "Join Mobile Clinic" (hereinafter "JMC") for Minister of Defense Shinjiro Koizumi at the Ministry of Defense on June 1, 2026.
In light of the “six lifesaving measures” that were newly authorized for Self-Defense Force personnel to perform in the field in May 2026, DeNA and Allm presented the potential of telemedicine support to make specialist expertise available even in environments where access to healthcare is limited.
Overview of the Demonstration
The demonstration combined JMC's portable medical devices—including an ultrasound device, an X-ray imaging device, and a fundus camera—with the communication app for healthcare professionals "Join," showcasing the entire workflow from capturing examination data to transmitting it to specialist physicians in remote locations. Defense Minister Koizumi expressed strong interest in JMC's range of equipment and its remote consultation capabilities, as well as in new approaches to delivering medical care in environments where access to healthcare is limited.
Potential Application of JMC in Limited Healthcare Access Environments
On May 15, 2026, the Ministry of Defense revised its directive to expand the scope of procedures that Self-Defense Force personnel can perform in the field to include those previously permitted only to physicians—a development expected to contribute to improved survival rates for personnel on site. At the same time, a remaining challenge is the time it takes to reach a physician.
In Europe and North America, emergency medical responders known as "Paramedics"—who are neither physicians nor nurses—provide advanced first aid and lifesaving care. As responders capable of performing a wide range of treatments based on their own judgment on site, Allm explained that combining JMC's telemedicine support with an expansion of the initial response that can be carried out in the field could contribute to further improving survival rates in environments where access to healthcare is limited.
By combining the various medical devices equipped in JMC with real-time advice from specialist physicians in remote locations, we believe JMC can contribute to new approaches to medical care in environments where access to healthcare is limited.
Allm will continue to expand its telemedicine support business through Join and its integration with a range of medical devices, and by advancing digital transformation (DX) in healthcare, we aim to realize equitable medical care for all.
