Allm Inc. and the Ministry of Health and Human Services of the Republic of Palau Signs Memorandum of Understanding for the Promotion of Telemedicine Services - Aiming to Raise Medical Standards with the Utilization of Join Mobile Clinic -
Allm Inc. (Headquarters in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President and Co-CEO: Teppei Sakano), a subsidiary of DeNA Co., Ltd., signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 19th February to develop a pilot project with the Ministry of Health and Human Services of the Republic of Palau (MHHS) for the promotion of telemedicine services.
The Republic of Palau, located to the south of Japan and consisting of approximately 300 islands, has a population of about 18,000people and faces a severe shortage of doctors. The only general hospital with inpatient facilities in the country is Belau National Hospital. However, certain medical departments lack specialists, making it challenging to provide adequate medical care. As a result, patients who require specialist consultations are typically transported to hospitals abroad in Taiwan, the Philippines, Guam, Hawaii, and other locations.
In this project, Allm and MHHS will work together to introduce Allm’s remote telemedicine solution, “Join Mobile Clinic (JMC).” JMC for Parau includes: i) delivering portable medical devices such as electrocardiograms and ultrasounds to clinics located on remote island(s) of Palau; and ii). through the use of the medical communication app “Join”, sharing patient information and medical data obtained from these portable devices (and transferring them to foreign specialists if necessary). This will allow healthcare providers (e.g., nurses) at the clinics to receive remote diagnoses and advice from specialists. This initiative intends to enhance medical access of the people and reduce patient transportation and doctors’ travels, thereby alleviating the burden on patients and healthcare providers/doctors and curbing the growth of medical expenses.
Starting with the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), we aim to continue to engage collaboratively in sincere and ongoing discussions to facilitate development and smooth implementation of this project.
Japan and Palau have a historically close relationship, with Japan contributing to the development of infrastructure such areas as healthcare, education, and roads in Palau, one of its friendly nations.
Allm Inc. aims to realize equitable healthcare for all by providing medical ICT solutions and promoting healthcare digital transformation (DX).
