High-quality portable fundus camera “Eyer”דJoin” used to perform remote medical examinations for diabetic retinopathy in Chile -Expanding Remote Medical Support Worldwide through “Join” and Medical Device Integration-

Allm LATAM, a subsidiary of Allm Inc., has collaborated with the most prestigious ophthalmology institution in Chile to conduct remote diabetic retinopathy screenings using the integrated smartphone non-mydriatic fundus camera "Eyer" and the healthcare professional communication app "Join".

Allm LATAM partnered with the most prestigious ophthalmology institution in Chile to conduct remote diabetic retinopathy screenings using “Eyer” and “Join”. “Join” is a communication app for medical professionals.

Partnered with the most prestigious medical institution in Chile
The fundus examination was carried out on approximately 20,000 members of the Chilean non-profit organization “Caja La Araucana”. The images taken by “Eyer” were seamlessly connected to the network of ophthalmologists at the ophthalmology clinic “Clínica Pasteur” via “Join” for examination. This project was carried out with the aim of detecting and preventing eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, which are the main causes of preventable blindness, at an early stage.

To date, 1083 have had their retinas examined using Eyer, and the AI built into the device has identified retinal abnormalities in 66% of cases. Subsequent diagnoses by ophthalmologists have confirmed retinal abnormalities in 55% of cases, demonstrating the effectiveness of this technology for the early detection of eye diseases. Among the users screened in the project, we found that 35% are men and 65% are women. Regarding age groups, 696 out of 1,083 patients (64.3%) are over 50 years old.

Thanks to the initiative promoted by "Caja La Araucana" to reduce ophthalmological waiting lists in Chile, Allm LATAM could partner with Clínica Pasteur to promote this project. Thanks to this partnership, the clinic's highly skilled ophthalmologists were able to participate in the project, and participants who had been diagnosed were able to receive the necessary treatment.

By connecting with the ophthalmologist network through Eyer×Join and providing remote medical care, it is possible to provide appropriate diagnoses to people who are unable to receive specialist care for various reasons. This project reflects our commitment to medical innovation, and aims to improve the quality of life of many people through accessible and efficient medical services.

In the future, Allm Inc. will expand its telemedicine support services by linking Join with various medical devices. By promoting digital transformation (DX) in healthcare, we aim to create a society where everyone can receive medical care equally.
